Zoe Meng

I'm a product-focused frontend engineer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I specialize in React, TypeScript, and web performance, building interfaces that are fast, accessible, and optimized for real business impact.

I've built a B2B platform that reduced quote processing time by 83% and AI-powered tools for e-commerce, from SEO tagging systems to real-time component generators. Currently open to frontend engineering roles at product-driven companies.

Work Experience

Full Stack Web Engineer (Contract)

Mar 2022 — Present

MTI Corporation · Materials Science Equipment, Est. by MIT & UC Berkeley Researchers

  • Joined when the site was on Network Solutions with no custom code. Migrated to Shopify and built the full stack from scratch – Remix (Node.js) on the server, Prisma ORM for data, React on the frontend.
  • Replaced a manual quote workflow (Excel + email) with a full-stack quote system. Built server-side data loaders and REST/GraphQL endpoints to handle Retail vs. Wholesale pricing logic, cutting processing time by 83%.
  • Built a multi-level tagging and categorization system for 30K+ products using Shopify's Collection and Tag APIs. Set up server-side logic to auto-assign products to collections based on tag hierarchy.
  • Rebuilt the Product Detail Page with wholesale tiered pricing, add-on products, staff-only internal notes, and purchase-gated product manuals – gating logic built with Shopify Customer ID API on the server side.
  • Set up a server-side pipeline with Node.js, html2canvas, and AWS SES that generates PDF quotes and emails them automatically, replacing a fully manual process.
  • Added E2E tests with Cypress and unit tests with Jest, reaching 90% coverage on critical data mutations.

Frontend Developer (Independent Projects)

May 2020 — Feb 2022

Remote

  • Built marketing sites and real-time dashboards with React, Next.js (SSG/ISR), and Google Maps API during a training program.
  • Practiced performance tuning on these projects, reduced LCP by 25% through route-based code splitting and lazy loading.

About Me

I'm Zoe. I'm a frontend engineer with a background in design, I studied Web Design & New Media at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. That foundation shapes how I approach code: I don't just think about whether something works, but whether it feels right.

My focus is on the React ecosystem: TypeScript, Remix, Next.js, with a growing specialization in AI-integrated frontend applications from streaming UI pipelines to real-time AI workflows. I enjoy the challenge of making complex interfaces feel simple and fast, whether that's optimizing Core Web Vitals , engineering state management systems that scale, or building intuitive human-AI interaction patterns

When I'm not coding, you'll find me exploring the intersection of technology and creativity, always looking for ways to bridge the gap between engineering precision and design intuition.
